There is one big decision that will determine your future. You make that decision on purpose or by default through your actions.
Jack Welch said, “Control your own destiny or someone else will.”
Look around. You can see examples everyday of people making that choice. Some have a vision for their life and act on it. Others just live with what life deals them every day. Going day by day lets others control most aspects of their life.
Are you letting someone, or something, control your life, your future? Open your eyes, listen, and reflect on what you want and what you are doing. Then ask the same question. Are you letting someone, or something, control your future? What?
What are you letting stand in your way between what you want to do and what you are doing today? Why? Be specific. What you identify is a gap that must be addressed and closed.
Don’t sit back and let things happen TO you. Make things happen FOR you.
Talk with people who have proven experience closing gaps and eliminating barriers to progress. Sometimes those people are hard to find. It takes an investment of their time to understand where you are and where you want to be. You are unique so no cookie cutter approach works.
Experienced people willing to help can help you gain confidence, see new opportunities, solve problems, and take steps to eliminate your gaps and overcome your barriers.
But the first question you need to answer is: Are you in control of you own destiny or are you letting someone, or something, limit you?
